The Drip Menu/Recovery

Jet Lagfor the day you land.

Jet Lag is a 40-minute IV drip at LUX Med Clinic in Wynne, AR with fluids, B-complex and magnesium, for the flattened, dried-out feeling that follows a long travel day. It won't reset your body clock — light, sleep timing and time do that — but it deals with the dehydration and depletion that make jet lag worse, for $129.

01 — What's in the bag

Six ingredients. Each one has a job.

Your nurse confirms what is right for you at your health screen.

01
Normal saline or Lactated Ringer's
Cabin air is exceptionally dry and most people drink less than they should on a travel day. This is the ingredient doing most of the work.
02
B-complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6)
The energy-metabolism vitamins, for the flat feeling that comes with disrupted eating and sleeping.
03
Magnesium
For muscle tightness after hours in a seat, and because people associate it with settling down to sleep at the right end of the day.
04
Vitamin B12
Involved in energy metabolism, and the ingredient people notice most on the second day.
05
Taurine
An amino acid found in high concentrations in muscle, included for general support after hours in a seat.
06
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
Antioxidant support — travel days are hard on you in more ways than the obvious one.
02 — Is it for me?

For the drive home from Memphis.

Wynne isn't an airport town, so this drip is mostly booked on the way back from Memphis, or by people visiting from further out. Both work — we're forty minutes off I-40. Take the drip finder.

Book Jet Lag if you…
Have just come off a long flight or a long drive and feel wrung out
Are heading straight into a working week and can't afford day one to be a write-off
Are visiting family here and want to arrive functional
Travel often enough that the pattern is familiar
Skip it, or ask first, if you…
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Have kidney disease or heart failure
Are on a fluid restriction, or on blood-pressure or diuretic medication
Have calf pain or swelling, chest pain, or shortness of breath after a long flight. Those can be signs of a clot, they are a medical emergency, and the answer is urgent care or an emergency room — not a drip. We will say this at the desk and send you on.
Have reacted to any ingredient listed above
Our nurse screens for all of this at check-in. When in doubt, come in and ask — the screen is free, and “not today” is an answer we are willing to give.
03 — How it feels

Forty minutes, then home.

0–5 min
Check-in and screen.
A few questions, your blood pressure, and — after a long flight — a look at your legs and a question about breathing.
5–10 min
IV placement.
A small needle in the arm or the back of the hand. A quick pinch, then nothing.
10–45 min
The drip.
Recline, blanket, water, Wi-Fi. The magnesium brings a warm, heavy feeling that most people welcome at this point in a travel day.
After
Back to your day, or to bed.
No downtime, drive yourself. If you can, stay up until a normal local bedtime and get outside in daylight tomorrow — that does more for the actual jet lag than anything in the bag, and your nurse will tell you the same.
04 — Pricing

No surprises at the desk.

06 — Questions

Asked at the desk, answered here.

Does this cure jet lag?
No. Jet lag is your internal clock sitting in the wrong time zone, and the things that shift it are daylight, sleep timing and time itself. What this drip handles is everything piled on top — dehydration from cabin air, missed meals, a night of bad sleep — which is a bigger share of why day one feels awful than most people realize. Fix that and the clock still takes a few days.
When should I come in — before the trip or after?
Both work, for different reasons. Before, you travel hydrated instead of starting behind. After, you're catching up. Most people here book it on the drive back from Memphis, which is the practical answer.
What actually helps jet lag, then?
Daylight at the right end of the day, staying up until a normal local bedtime, and not napping at four in the afternoon. Caffeine early rather than late. It's dull advice, it's free, and it works better than anything we sell — which is why our nurse gives it to you while the drip runs.
I've got swelling in one leg after the flight. Should I book?
No — please get that looked at today. Pain or swelling in one calf, or chest pain or breathlessness after a long flight, can be a blood clot. That's an emergency room or an urgent care, straight away. Don't wait for an appointment and don't come here first.
We're a family of five coming through. Can we all come in?
Yes — bring everyone, and at six or more we'd usually come to you instead. Every person still gets their own screen, and the nurse can decline any one of them.
