The Drip Menu/Wellness

Myers' Cocktailthe one that started all of this.

The Myers' Cocktail is a 45-minute IV drip at LUX Med Clinic in Wynne, AR containing magnesium, calcium, B vitamins and vitamin C in a fluid base — the original wellness infusion, developed by a Baltimore physician in the mid-twentieth century and still the most-requested formula in the category.

It's nurse-administered with a free health screen and costs $149; it's the sensible pick when you want a general top-up rather than one specific thing.

01 — What's in the bag

Four ingredients. The original four.

Your nurse confirms what is right for you at your health screen.

01
Normal saline or Lactated Ringer's
The fluid base the rest is mixed into.
02
Magnesium
The ingredient people notice. It relaxes muscle and often brings a warm, heavy feeling through the body during the infusion.
03
Calcium
Part of the original formula, alongside magnesium — the two work together in muscle and nerve function.
04
B vitamins — B-complex and B12 (hydroxocobalamin)
The energy-metabolism group: what your body uses to get usable energy out of food. The B12 in this bag is hydroxocobalamin, the form the original formula used.
05
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
Antioxidant support, and the fourth pillar of the classic formula.
02 — Is it for me?

The all-rounder.

If you can't decide between Immunity and Energy, the Myers' is usually the answer — it has a bit of both, and it's the drip our nurse recommends most often to people on their second visit. Take the drip finder.

Book Myers' Cocktail if you…
Want a general top-up rather than one targeted thing
Have had a couple of drips and want to try the classic
Are run down at the end of a long stretch and can't point at one cause
Like the idea of a formula that's been in use since before IV lounges existed
Skip it, or ask first, if you…
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Have kidney disease or heart failure — magnesium and calcium both matter here, and this is the drip where that question gets asked most carefully
Have a heart-rhythm condition, low blood pressure, or take medication affecting magnesium, calcium or potassium
Have a history of kidney stones, or G6PD deficiency
Have reacted to any ingredient listed above
Our nurse screens for all of this at check-in. When in doubt, come in and ask — the screen is free, and “not today” is an answer we are willing to give.
03 — How it feels

Your hour, minute by minute.

The Myers' is the drip people describe most vividly, because magnesium is in it.

0–5 min
Check-in and screen.
A few questions, your blood pressure, and the kidney and heart questions this bag needs.
5–10 min
IV placement.
A small needle in the arm or the back of the hand. A quick pinch, then nothing.
10–50 min
The drip.
Recline, blanket, water, Wi-Fi. Expect a warm flush and a heavy, relaxed feeling in the limbs from the magnesium, and often a brief taste from the B vitamins. Most people like it. If it's too much — and occasionally it is — tell the nurse and she'll slow the rate, which settles it within a minute or two.
After
Back to your day.
No downtime and you can drive, though plenty of people want a nap instead. Bright yellow urine for a day, from the B vitamins.

06 — Questions

Asked at the desk, answered here.

What is a Myers' Cocktail, and why the name?
It's an intravenous mix of magnesium, calcium, B vitamins and vitamin C, named after Dr. John Myers, a Baltimore physician who used a version of it with his patients from the 1960s onward. After he died, other doctors wrote up and refined the formula, and it became the template most IV clinics still work from. The name is his, not a reference to a drink — this is the only page on our site where the word appears.
What's in it, exactly?
Magnesium, calcium, B-complex, B12 and vitamin C, in a liter of fluid. We publish the ingredient list and not the amounts: what's right for you is a clinical decision your nurse and our medical director make, and the versions you'll find written out online vary widely between clinics anyway.
What does it help with?
People book it as a general top-up when they're run down, and most describe feeling more level for a few days afterwards. You'll see it advertised elsewhere for a long list of conditions — we don't make those claims, because the evidence doesn't support selling it that way. If you have a diagnosed condition, that belongs with your doctor.
Why do I feel warm and heavy during it?
Magnesium. It's the most noticeable ingredient in the bag, it relaxes muscle, and the warm flush is the ordinary effect of it going in. If it feels too strong, say so — the nurse slows the rate down and it eases quickly. Some people find that sensation the best part of the drip.
Is the Myers' better than the other drips?
No, just broader. Immunity is more focused on vitamin C and zinc; Energy leans on the B vitamins; the Myers' has some of each with the minerals as well. If you can't decide, this is the one to try, and the nurse will help you narrow it down next time.
Who shouldn't have it?
Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with kidney disease or heart failure, anyone with a heart-rhythm condition or low blood pressure, and anyone on medication that affects magnesium, calcium or potassium. Because of the minerals, this is the bag where we screen hardest and decline most often.
How often can I have one?
Monthly is the usual rhythm for regulars, which is what the Drip Club is built around. There's no benefit to weekly, and your nurse will tell you if you're coming in more than you need to.
