The Drip Menu/Wellness

Sleepfor the week you can't switch off.

Sleep is a 45-minute IV drip at LUX Med Clinic in Wynne, AR with magnesium, taurine, glutathione and B vitamins in a fluid base, for stretches when you're wound up and not resting well. It costs $129, it's nurse-administered with a free health screen, and it supports rest rather than treating a sleep disorder — if you've been sleeping badly for months, what you need is an assessment, not a bag.

01 — What's in the bag

Eight ingredients. Each one has a job.

Your nurse confirms what is right for you at your health screen.

01
Normal saline or Lactated Ringer's
The fluid base. Being properly hydrated is unglamorous and it matters more than most of what follows.
02
Magnesium
The ingredient people come for. It relaxes muscle and brings a warm, heavy feeling during the infusion that most people find pleasant.
03
Taurine
An amino acid found throughout the body, included here for general support alongside the magnesium.
04
Glutathione
An antioxidant your body makes on its own.
05
B-complex (B1, B2, B3, B5, B6)
The energy-metabolism vitamins — a run of bad nights depletes you, and this is the part that addresses that.
06
Vitamin B12
Involved in nerve function and in energy metabolism.
07
Zinc
A common dietary shortfall.
08
Dexpanthenol (vitamin B5)
Part of the same B group.
02 — Is it for me?

For a wound-up fortnight. Not for a sleep disorder.

This drip suits people in a stretch — a hard project, a bereavement, a new baby, a season of night shifts — who are tense and not resting. It is not treatment for a sleep problem, and we won't present it as one. Take the drip finder.

Book Sleep if you…
Are in a demanding stretch and finding it hard to wind down
Get muscle tension and cramping along with the poor sleep
Have travelled across time zones, or are coming off a run of night shifts
Want the calmest thing on our menu, and know that's what you're buying
Skip it, or ask first, if you…
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Have kidney disease, heart failure or a heart-rhythm condition
Have low blood pressure, or take medication that affects magnesium or potassium
Have reacted to any ingredient listed above
Our nurse screens for all of this at check-in. When in doubt, come in and ask — the screen is free, and “not today” is an answer we are willing to give.
03 — How it feels

Your hour, minute by minute.

This is the drip people most often describe as pleasant in itself.

0–5 min
Check-in and screen.
A few questions, your blood pressure, and a conversation about how long the poor sleep has been going on.
5–10 min
IV placement.
A small needle in the arm or the back of the hand. A quick pinch, then nothing.
10–50 min
The drip.
Recline, blanket, low light if you want it. Magnesium brings a warm, heavy feeling through the limbs — plenty of people doze off in the chair, which is fine and is not us sedating you.
After
Home, and to bed at a normal time.
No downtime, and you can drive. Most people describe the evening as easier to wind down than usual. Individual results vary, and this is a drip where they vary a lot.

06 — Questions

Asked at the desk, answered here.

Will this make me sleep?
Not directly, and we won't claim it does. There's no sedative in the bag. What most people describe is feeling calmer and less physically tense that evening, which makes sleeping easier for some of them and makes no difference for others. If you want something that reliably puts you to sleep, that's a conversation with a doctor about why you're not sleeping — not a drip.
Is there anything in it that would make me drowsy?
Nothing sedating, no. Magnesium relaxes muscle and often brings a heavy, warm feeling during the infusion, and plenty of people doze in the chair — that's the setting and the magnesium, not a drug. You can drive yourself home.
I've been sleeping badly for months. Is this the answer?
Probably not on its own, and we'd rather say so. Months of bad sleep usually has a cause: sleep apnoea, thyroid problems, anxiety or depression, pain, alcohol, medication, shift patterns. Sleep apnoea in particular is common, frequently missed, and matters for your heart — if you snore heavily or wake unrefreshed, ask your doctor about it. Come here for a rough fortnight, not instead of an assessment.
How is this different from the Myers' Cocktail?
Both contain magnesium, which is what makes either of them feel calming. The Myers' is the broader classic with calcium and vitamin C; Sleep leans further into magnesium and taurine and adds glutathione. If you want the all-rounder, take the Myers'.
How often can I have it?
Occasionally, when a stretch calls for it. Monthly at most as a routine — which is what the Drip Club covers. If you find yourself wanting one weekly to cope, that's the signal to look at what's actually going on rather than to book more drips, and your nurse will say the same.
Can I have it in the evening?
Our last chair is before we close at 6 PM, so the practical answer is late afternoon. People often plan it that way deliberately, since the calm feeling lands in the evening rather than the following morning.
