Skin & Injectables · Add-on to Microneedling

The finish your microneedling was missing.

Exosomes are tiny messenger particles used in a topical serum. At LUX Med Clinic in Wynne, AR the serum is applied to the skin immediately after microneedling, when the skin can absorb it best, for a smoother, brighter-looking complexion. It is a cosmetic add-on to a microneedling session and it is not an injection — +$249 on any microneedling appointment.

Topical only. Never injected.

Topical exosome products are cosmetic and are not FDA-approved drugs. We do not inject exosomes, and nobody should — injection and IV use of exosome products are not permitted. Ours is applied to the surface of the skin, after microneedling, and nowhere else.

01 — How it works

Applied to the skin. Right after the needles.

This isn’t a treatment on its own — it’s the last ten minutes of a microneedling appointment, and it only makes sense in that order.

01
Your microneedling session
The usual appointment: numbing, then the microneedling pass. See microneedling for what that involves.
02
The serum goes on
Straight afterwards, while the micro-channels the needling created are still open. That timing is the entire reason for doing it this way — a topical spreads across the skin far more readily in the minutes after a session than it ever would on intact skin.
03
It stays on
Nothing is washed off at the end, and you go home with it on your skin. Your nurse will tell you what to leave alone and for how long.
04
The following weeks
Whatever you notice builds gradually, alongside what the microneedling itself is doing. The two aren’t separable, and we won’t pretend we can tell you which did what.
People also find it soothing. The most consistent thing patients say about the serum is that the skin feels calmer that evening than it does after microneedling alone. That’s a comfort observation, not a claim about what it does underneath.

02 — Is it for me?

For people already booking microneedling.

If you’re not having microneedling, there’s nothing here for you — this is an add-on and it isn’t sold separately. If you are, it’s a straightforward question of whether you want to spend the extra.

A good fit if you…

Are already booked for microneedling and want the fuller version of the session

Have done a few microneedling sessions and want to change something about them

Want the calmest possible evening afterwards

Wait, or ask first, if you…

Have active acne, an active skin infection, or broken skin in the treatment area

Are pregnant or breastfeeding

Have any of the things that rule out microneedling itself — the screen is the same one, since the microneedling is the treatment

Have a known sensitivity to a component of the serum, which your nurse will go through with you

Decided at your consultation, on the same screen as the microneedling session it attaches to.
03 — What to expect

The same downtime as microneedling.

Adding the serum doesn’t add downtime. Your recovery is the microneedling’s recovery.

01
Day of
Skin looks flushed, like moderate sunburn, and feels tight. Many people say it feels calmer with the serum than without it.
02
Days 1–3
Redness settles, and skin can feel dry or slightly rough. Follow the aftercare your nurse gives you and leave it alone.
03
Week 1
Back to normal. Makeup from the time your nurse tells you, not before.
04
Weeks 2–6
Whatever you’re going to notice about how your skin looks arrives here, gradually, from the session as a whole. Individual results vary.

Medically reviewed by Dr. Vaibhav Desai, MD — last reviewed September 20, 2026
Do you inject exosomes?
No. Topical exosome products are cosmetic and are not FDA-approved drugs, and injection and IV use of exosome products are not permitted. Ours goes on the surface of the skin after microneedling and nowhere else. If a clinic offers you an exosome injection or an exosome IV, that is the moment to leave.
+
What do exosomes actually do?
They are tiny messenger particles, used here in a cosmetic serum applied to the skin. What we can tell you is what the session is for: a smoother, brighter-looking complexion after microneedling. We are not going to tell you what is happening underneath, because the honest position is that the evidence for topical cosmetic use is not the kind that supports a promise.
+
Is it better than PRP?
Different, not better. PRP is made from your own blood, drawn and spun in the room, and costs more because of the draw and the time. The exosome serum is a manufactured cosmetic product applied at the end — quicker and cheaper. Plenty of people try a plain microneedling session first, then add one next time.
+
Can I have it without microneedling?
No. It is sold as an add-on because the timing is the point: a topical spreads far more readily in the minutes after a microneedling pass than it would on intact skin. On its own it would be an expensive serum.
+
Which product do you use?
We don’t name the product on this page. Ask at your consultation and your nurse will tell you exactly what is going on your skin.
+
Does it add to the downtime?
No. Your recovery is the microneedling’s recovery — flushed and tight on the day, settling over a couple of days. Many people say the evening feels calmer with the serum than without it.
+
Is it safe in pregnancy?
We do not treat in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and that applies to the microneedling session as much as to the serum. It is part of the same screen at your consultation.
